Stretching across the equator with more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia is home to at least 1340 ethnic groups with various languages and religions. Therefore, Indonesia’s diversity is a necessity. Unfortunately, Indonesia’s diversity often stops at just being a political narrative, which often ends tragically. As the conclusion of the Indonesian Pluralities series, the film Indonesian Pluralities Today: Seeking Equality in Diversity invites us to revisit Indonesia from a different perspective: not only to be euphorically celebrate this diversity, but also to understand the potentials, problems, as well as contestation within.
